Flint Branch NAACP Announces 43rd Annual Freedom Fund Dinner
Theme: “The Fierce Urgency of Now!” Honors Legacy, Champions Action
Flint, MI — The Flint Branch NAACP proudly presents its 43rd Annual Freedom Fund Dinner, an elegant black-tie celebration of justice, equity, and community empowerment. The event will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at St. Michael’s Event Center, beginning with a VIP Reception at 5:00 PM, followed by dinner at 6:00 PM.
This year’s theme, “The Fierce Urgency of Now!”, draws inspiration from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s enduring call to action. It reflects the Branch’s steadfast commitment to advancing civil rights, closing racial disparities, and investing in Genesee County’s future.
The evening will honor four distinguished individuals whose contributions exemplify courage, leadership, and compassion:
- The Late Renetta Speed – Vera B. Rison Unsung Hero Award
- Matt Franklin – Lenore Croudy Distinguished Leadership Award
- David Leyton – C. Fredrick Robinson Civil Rights Award
- Dr. Aisha Harris – Celia Turner Humanitarian Award
In addition to celebrating these honorees, the dinner will spotlight the Branch’s ongoing initiatives in health equity, education, civil rights advocacy, and economic justice. Special emphasis will be placed on supporting scholarships for high school students and our ACT-SO Program, empowering local high school students to showcase their talents.
