Founded in 1909, the NAACP is the nation\u2019s oldest and largest civil rights organization. From the ballot box to the classroom, the thousands of dedicated workers, organizers, leaders and members who make up the NAACP continue to fight for social justice for all Americans. From police brutality to voter suppression, Black communities are under attack.<\/p>\n
We work to disrupt inequality, dismantle racism, and accelerate change in key areas including criminal justice, health care, education, climate, and the economy. When it comes to civil rights and social justice, we have the unique ability to secure more wins than anyone else. This year\u2019s theme, \u201cWe, The People,\u201d<\/strong> underscores a powerful truth embedded in the opening words of the U.S. Constitution: that the authority of this nation rests not with politicians or the wealthy, but with its people. As America commemorates its 250th anniversary<\/strong>, the NAACP remains steadfast in its mission to secure rights, protections, and opportunities still overdue to many across the country.<\/p>\n The Flint Branch NAACP is honored to welcome Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II<\/strong> as the 2026 keynote speaker. A champion for equity, innovation, and civic engagement, Lt.
